Let The Day Close (Soft Acoustic)

[Intro] (quiet fingerpicked guitar) [Verse 1] The sun has slipped behind the roofs The street lights hum their amber glow The things I said, the things I missed Can wait until tomorrow [Pre-Chorus] Fold the hours like a letter Set them gently on the shelf [Chorus] Let the day close, let the day close Like a door that's softly shut What was done is done for now And what was not can wait Let the day close, let it go Breathe in slow and breathe out slow Let the day close [Verse 2] The dishes sit, the phone is dark The list can rest beside the bed I did my best with what I had Now kinder thoughts can fill my head [Pre-Chorus] Fold the hours like a letter Set them gently on the shelf [Chorus] Let the day close, let the day close Like a door that's softly shut What was done is done for now And what was not can wait Let the day close, let it go Breathe in slow and breathe out slow Let the day close [Bridge] Shoulders down and hands unclenched Jaw unwinding, eyelids heavy Morning has its own new light I don't need to carry it tonight [Final Chorus] Let the day close, let the day close Like a door that's softly shut What was done is done for now And what was not can wait Let the day close, let it go Breathe in slow and breathe out slow Let the day close [Outro] Let it close... let it rest Let it close... you did your best
